Operation: Learn to play the organ
Last week, I applied for a job as an organist at a Iowa City church. Now that I've been contacted by the pastor, I've realized that I need to complete an important step in the application process:
learn to play the instrument. Granted, I've taken a few semesters of organ. And I play the piano. But I'm not sure you could call me an organ-ist. However, I think that with a lot of practice, I'm going to be able to knock out a few organ pieces before my audition. Are ya with me?

WE'RE WITH YOU!! we know you hate the organ, and the organ hates you, but you can't let it win! First you must show it love, then make it your bitch! Show that organ who's boss! Make it call you ma'am! Are ya with me? You can do it!
I feel you. I was a pianist, went to school as a voice principle for conducting, and have decided halfway through my degree to switch to organ. Turns out it's the most difficult instrument I've ever tried to play. How did I not get the memo about the steep (more like launch position) learning curve?
I wish you luck (the good kind). At least we'll always have jobs, right?
